Schwinn 130 Upright Bike Review

The Schwinn 130 Upright Bike is one of their more affordable and popular stationary bikes in the market.

The Schwinn 130 Upright Bike is only $$$ a piece but has features that are worth way more. This has become a trend on Schwinn exercise machines which definitely benefits their customers greatly.

I have discussed the features and my findings on this Schwinn 130 Upright Bike review below.

Varying Resistance Levels

The 130 has 20 resistance levels that you can control step by step through the “^” and “v” buttons on the upper part of the console. This allows you to find your suitable resistance level to maximize your workout and increase your output by targeting either endurance or strength.

For convenience, there are 10 quick key located on the console that allows you to change the resistance into preset values with a smooth transition between settings. The eddy current resistance system provides you the needed resistance each and every time.

Preset Workout Programs

The Schwinn 130 Upright Bike has an incredibly rich list of workout programs. This should give you required variation that is needed to maintain your progress and keep you from hitting that plateau that nobody wants.

You can either try a different everyday or master each program before moving on. Either way, the sheer number should make it well worth its weight in gold.

The Schwinn 130 Upright Bike has 22 preset workout programs that includes 9 profile oriented programs, 8 heart rate control settings, 2 customizable programs, 2 fitness level tests, and 1 quick start program to get you going. If this is not enough bang for your buck, the Schwinn 130 Upright Bike has a lot more feature to offer.

 Surprisingly Strong

The Schwinn 130 weighs less than 60 lbs. but has a user weight capacity of up to 5 times that. With it being able to support 300 lbs. on a slim and simple frame pleasant surprise for a lot of Schwinn enthusiast. It’s like you lifting a one ton car.

300 lbs. is the common weight bracket of most people who are trying to actually lose weight. You can ride the Schwinn 130 Upright Bike comfortable and push your workout as much as you can knowing that it can support you no matter what.

Tech Baby

As with most Schwinn stationary bikes, the Schwinn 130 Upright Bike has Schwinn DualTrack™ which allows you to monitor an incredible 13 workout feedbacks at once like distance covered, heart rate, calories burned, time, resistance level, etc. Having technological features like this is a great plus for an item that cost as little as the 130.

It also has Schwinn Connect™ which allows you to export your workout data like calories, distance and time in its website which is also compatible with MyFitnessPal where you can keep your long term goal in sight. With such a basic pricing, the 130 does boasts of some impressive bells and whistles.

Comfort hound

The Schwinn 130 Upright Bike comes with the common creature comforts that Schwinn has become known for like the 3-speed fan, the oversized water bottle so you can keep yourself hydrated, a soft yet sturdy set of handle bars and a speaker to let you listen to your favorite tunes while working out.

All these are supported by its lean yet sturdy platform with a padded seat and small transport wheels so that you can move it around whenever you want to. It’s quite comfortable and yet very dependable design that makes the 130 very user-friendly.

PROS
  • Strong and lightweight frame
  • Great list of features and options
  • Affordable
CONS
  • Some mentioned the pedals to be too close to the crank shaft
  • Short warranty

Final Thoughts

The relatively short warranty of 10 years for the frame, 2 years on mechanical, 1 year for the electrical and 90 days for labor seems to be the constant chink in the Schwinn armor and should be looked into.

The Schwinn 130 Upright Bike is a great equipment to have in the house and is well worth the price. At $$$, you would be hard pressed to find another exercise equipment, let alone a stationary bike that can rival the features and strength of the Schwinn 130 Upright Bike.
