Schwinn 170 Upright Bike Review
Schwinn has been known in history to produce great quality bicycles so it should come as no surprise that when the fitness craves swept all around the world, they started producing the stationary / exercise bikes.
Schwinn 170 Features
Having some amazing features, The Schwinn 170 Upright Bike provides you a great workout. It has a good list of features that give you not only safe and effective workout plan but a stable ride as well. Through its sturdy frame, it makes it easy for you to get that burn that you are aiming for. I’m going to the features on this Schwinn 170 Upright Bike Review.
The 170 has a great range of resistance that allows you to have that muscle stimulation that you need. Whether it is for endurance or muscle strength, the 170’s 25 resistance levels should give you the range that you will need whether you are a novice or a seasoned fitness enthusiast.
The resistance levels can be controlled by the “^” or “v” buttons on the upper part of the console or through the 10 quick buttons on either side of the same console. If you are a beginner, I would suggest you stick to the “^” and “v” buttons for now.
Many Programs to Choose
The 170 comes with an unusually high number of preset workout programs. With 29 programs to choose from, you are guaranteed to never get bored while working out. You can try one every day or master each one for a week before moving on to the next. Whatever approach you want; you definitely will have enough to play with.
It has 12 profile workouts, 9 workouts aimed for heart rate control, 4 programs that you can customize, 2 fitness level tests, 1 for recovery and 1 quick-start program to get you going. With an impressive list of choices, the 170 will definitely not disappoint.
The 170 has a Schwinn DualTrack™ configuration on its console that allows you to monitor up to 13 workout feedbacks. It displays your goal achievement, user indicator, intensity meter, complete indicator, course profile, resistance level, calories, heart rate zone indicator, pulse, speed, RPM, time and distance.
The Schwinn 170 Upright Bike also comes with a Schwinn Connect™ and MyFitnessPal compatibility, which then allows you to keep track of your Time, Calories and Distance goals. This allows you to get motivated by comparing it to that of your friends or simply knowing how much you have improved.
Weighing at around 70 lbs, the 170 can support up to 300 lbs. This speaks volumes on how well it was designed and the strength of its components. The weight capacity of the 170 is a great feature because people who really need to lose weight are about that same weight bracket.
It also gives peace of mind to any user that it will comfortably support their weight without the worry of it all of a sudden giving out. This peace of mind is something that is very important, especially when you are in the middle of a vigorous session.
There’s nothing worst that you are getting to the brink of beating your personal best then all of a sudden, the pedals give out.
The Schwinn 170 Upright Bike has many creature comfort features like an MP3 player compatible speakers so that you can listen to your favorite tunes while working out, a bottle holder to keep you hydrated, handle bars that allow you to have multiple biking positions, and a 3 speed fan for better ventilation.
It also has a large and contoured padded seat for a more comfortable riding experience as well as built in telemetry heart rate readers All these features should give you all the comfort that you will need to focus more on the workout and not on the minor details.
The Schwinn 170 Upright Bike has a 10-year warranty on frame, 2 years on mechanical issues, 1 year for the electrical and 90 days on labor. Some reviews mentioned they experienced some back pain after using the 170 but this can be traced to poor posture.
All in all, the 170 is pretty solid and at $$$, is a great buy for anyone who wants a great quality stationary bike for their house.
